Mamaroneck, N.Y., village officials have agreed to an $825,000 settlement with a yacht club that has been battling for years for the right to build seasonal residences on its shorefront land.
The Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club will drop six years worth of legal actions, including the lawsuit over the housing proposal, and start over with a proposal for 23 rental units, including 19 in three new buildings. That would be scaled down from a larger design rejected by the Planning Board in 2004.
"Neither party is thrilled," said Joel Sachs, the club's attorney.
